Sports

Football

90 (Speke) Squadron Compete in the Merseyside Wing 5-a-side competition every year. We practice alot before hand to improve our chances of winning. In the competition you compete against 29 other Squadrons of the wing. 90 Squadron continue to do well in the competition coming 2nd in 2007 with aspirations to win it in the future.

RugbyRugby Tackle

For Rugby there is no squadron competition. To play, you must first go to Trials organised by the Merseyside Wing in which you can be picked for the team. Rugby is played at Junior and Senior Level (15 per side and 7 per side respectively). The competition usually takes place at an RAF station such as RAF Cosford. If you are seen to play well for the Wing team, you could further go on to represent our region (Wales and West) and even play at Corps Level.

Hockey

In the Hockey competition there is no age split, so we are respresented by a boys team and a girls team. Alot of preparation occurs beforehand with regular practices for all 90 Cadets to get involved in. Once the team is chosen they compete against the other Merseyside Wing Squadrons in a tournament. 90 has met success in past hockey tournaments, most recently in 2008 we won 1st Place Boys and 2nd Place girls.

AthleticsAthletics Trophies

The Squadron Athletics competition is held every year in the Spring at a local track. 90 compete againstall other Squadrons in the Wing in a variety of events track or field. The competition is split into 3 Age Groups for each event and 2 further groups for males and females. In 2008, 90 (Speke) Squadron took home 5 of the 8 Trophies available.

SwimmingSwimming

The inter-squadron swimming competition is held in the autumn of each year. 90 consistently puts out a strong team of able cadets. We prepare alot beforehand with regular practices at a swimming baths in which all the cadets are invited to come and try for the team. If succesfull in your particular race you can be picked to represent at higher levels of the competition such as Wing, Region and Corps.

Cross Country

Every year there is a cross country competition held in the Merseyside Wing which offers further medals and trophies to be won. Before hand 90 Squadron trains to improve it's cadet's fitness and we consistently perform well in he competition.
