After qualifying for the Merseyside Wing Athletics in the 400 metres and the javelin, it was time for me to embark on a journey to RAF Cosford, Wolverhampton as an ambassador of Merseyside Wing.
We met up at 08:25 on the Sunday; it was a bright and sunny Sunday morning until we hit the motorway 45 minutes later. Heavy rainfall and sharp cutting winds pulled the excitement and hopes to the bottom bar. And suprise suprise this continued all the way to Cosford with sunny intervals for the rest of the day.
As I and the rest of the Wing registered for our events, nerves were increasing higher and higher by the seconds. Although the weather was pulling the moral down we stuck at it as best we could.

As the speakers announced the competitors several times the Merseyside Wing team huddled together to shout and encourage their fellow cadet’s participating in their events.
The final parade approached so quickly, we therefore fell into form as one main parade, consisting of five different wings. As the parade continued we half expected to win most, if not all of the trophies displayed on the table. As we waited anxiously to find out the winners, our eyes were fixed on all the shiney trophies on show.
Not so suprisingly we had a clean sweep and walked away with all 8 trophies! Yet again we proved ourselves and achieved at the highest standards.
A BIG WELL DONE TO MERSEYSIDE WING AND EVERYONE INVOLVED!
