Clean Sweep with a Hockey Stick |

The Hockey Players of 90 Squadron retain the Boys Hockey trophy and pick up the Girls Trophy on the way.
The Annual Hockey competition on Merseyside wing was always going to be an anticipated date, seeing as how the Boys team triumphed and the Girls team coming a close second in 2008.
However, after weeks of practice both teams found victory and 90 walked away with both trophies.

| Capel Curig Weekend |

Five cadets and two members of staff from 90 Squadron recently joined forces with 30 other cadets from squadrons around Merseyside Wing to take part in an Adventure Training weekend in Snowdonia.
It took place on a military training camp in Capel Curig, North Wales and consisted of Kayaking, Canoeing, Rock Climbing and Abseiling.

Sunday 5th April, 5:30am. Why on earth, I ask myself, did I think of this. I had booked a display table at the Annual Shropshire Modellers Show at RAF Cosford Museum, for the Squadron Modelling Team. It seemed like a good idea at the time, little did I realise it meant getting up at ‘frozen o’clock’ on a Sunday Morning.

Cadet Andrew Gibson writes about Merseyside Wing's recent domination on the Rugby field at the annual competition.
With a 06:45 start to a Sunday morning and an under experienced Merseyside Junior Rugby team travelling down to RAF Cosford, it’s no wonder hopes weren’t high. Not to mention the three strong welsh sides and the hybrid Staffs West Mercia team that was a mixture of two wings. We were in for a tough battle.

90 (Speke) Squadron Air Cadets visit the Merseyside Police Firearms Unit for an insight into the equipment of Merseyside's finest.
The tour, organised by Adult Sergeant Blakemore, a Police Officer himself consisted of a presentation of what the firearms unit was all about, a viewing of all the weapons and even giving the chance to sound the sirens behind an armoured Police vehicle.

Cadet Sergeant Crighton writes about a recent archery and target shooting day...
It's not very often that cadets from Merseyside Wing get the chance to do Archery, but today, one of the officers was kind enough to invite us to RAF Woodvale to do 2 hours worth of Archery. On this day, we had also booked the .22 rifle range for indoor shooting practices, and there were about 13 cadets who attended.

Two Teams of Air Cadets from 90 (Speke) Squadron continue the Squadron's sporting success, being crowned champions of the Merseyside Wing's 'Senior Male' and Female 5 a Side Football competitions.
Arriving at the squadron at half past seven was just one of the forth coming challenges in store for the Boy’s senior and Girl's 5- a side teams on Sunday the 25th of January.

A team of female Air Cadets from 90 (Speke) Squadron win the Merseyside Wing Netball Trophy at the Wing's recent competition.
The Squadron takes part in the Netball Competitions aswell as other Sports. Each event goes towards the prestigious 'Best Overall Squadron at Sports' Award in the Merseyside Wing, in which the Squadron is aiming to maintain.

90 (Speke) Squadron Air Cadets visit the Royal Navy flag ship, the HMS Ark Royal on its recent docking in Liverpool.
Five members of the Squadron took the trip down to the Liverpool Docks after being offered places by 7F Squadron. The 1230 meetup was followed by the Cadet's entering the Royal Navy Flagship into it's hangar area.

A group of Air Cadets from 90 (Speke) Squadron take control of the RAF's elementary flying trainer aircraft- the Grob Tutor.
The Squadron receives regular flying places from the Merseyside Wing for it’s Cadets, usually taking place of a Sunday. Each Cadet spends the day at the RAF Station, where they are kitted out into RAF flight suits, helmets and even parachutes!

90 (Speke) Squadron ends another successful year with numerous awards and promotions at their formal end of year dinner.
The Squadron held it’s annual ‘Dining in’ Night as the last event of the year before the Christmas Break. The formal Dinner, attended by several VIPs both from outside the ATC and within was followed by the end of year awards and promotions.

Former 90 Squadron Cdt Sgt Anthony Solan recently
completed RAF Training at Royal Air Force Halton.
Anthony completed his 9 weeks RAF training involving harsh living conditions and severe discipline. The first part of this was basic military training, which consisted of Ironing, alot of physical training, Drill, more Drill and Drill Assessments! It was a good job he was in the Squadron’s winning Drill team that year!

A group of Cadets from 90 (Speke) Squadron experience the two extremes of British weather adding to the enormous challenge of the Duke of Edinburgh award.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award consists of three stages; Bronze, Silver and Gold. The Silver award consists of two expeditions, one as a practice and one ‘actual’.

A Cadet from 90 (Speke) Squadron takes to the skies as a ‘G1’ pilot after completing Advanced Glider Training.
In late April 2008, Cadet Corporal Ryan Davies of 90 (Speke) Squadron Air Training Corps begun a gliding scholarship to obtain his Blue Wings. Since then he has flew his way through the stages of Glider pilot training to finally achieve his G1 Glider Pilot Wings.

A team of Air Cadets from 90 (Speke) Squadron reach the Air Training Corps National Drill Finals.
In mid-October of 2008 90 (Speke) Squadron of the Air Cadets won their Regional Drill Competition for the first time in their history! The team, who’d been practicing extensively since early February swept through the ‘Merseyside Wing’ and ‘Wales and West’ Competitions, to further represent the region at the Air Training Corps National Drill Competition in mid - November.
