Camps

In the ATC, we can attend many camps. Some of the camps are just with our Squadron (like Nesscliff Weekend) while others can be with the whole Merseyside Wing (Wing Nesscliff). Another type of camp are Annual Camps which are usually on an RAF Station.

Annual Camps

Annual Camps are chances for Cadets to visit RAF Stations all over the United Kingdom and in other countries. The majority of them last a week with the exception of some like Akrotiri in Cyprus which lasts two weeks. Annual Camps usually take place in the summer Holidays and give you the chance to mixwith other squadron's cadets in your Wing or even from your Region.

This gives Cadets a great opportunity to make new friends and also to have a real taster of what life on an RAF Station is like. Obviously, staying on a Active Station and being a member of the Air Training Corps all cadets must abide by the rules and regulations of the RAF. This includes complimenting RAF Officers by saluting them and addressing any rank accordingly.

Whilst on Annual Camp cadets will take part in a number of activities. These include; section visits, sports, leadership and teamwork exercises, Day and Night Exercises, Drill and flying. Flying can sometimes take place in frontline RAF Aircraft. This was apparent on our 2007 Annual Camp at RAF Benson were all our cadets gained a flight over an hour long in a RAF Puma Helicopter.
